What is a Lapidary Club?

A lapidary club promote popular interest and education in lapidary, the craft of shaping stone, minerals and gemstones.

A lapidary club sponsor and provide means for their members to engage in various forms of jewelry making, cabochon cutting and faceting, carving, glass beadmaking and craftwork.

A Lapidarist is a specialist who cuts and facets gemstones with different techniques in order to reveal their intrinsic beauty.

As a Lapidarist you need a detailed understanding of the different types of gems and their properties to enable you to cut and facet them properly.

As the first lapidary club in the Gambia, members would first receive training in gem cutting and from there members can use the facilities to cut and polish any gemstone they possess.

Membership to RedDiamond Lapidary Club is one year period in which members are trained to cut and polish gemstones in the first month and the 11 months is used for skill perfection.
